Find the best places in Brighton to buy music equipment.

Brighton has a wide range of shops and stores that cater to its ever growing music scene that is known all over the UK.

When it comes to Brighton, there is no short supply of music shops. You may stumble across a hidden diamond in the Laines or trawl through the online website of a nationwide producer, but one thing for certain: as a musician in Brighton, everything you'll need is never more than a few miles away (as the seagull flies...). Here at Singing Lessons Brighton, we have aimed to collate for you some of the very best.

Badlands Guitar

Badlands specialises in everything guitar-related, and since the guitar is truly one of the finest accompaniments to vocal practice or performance, Singing Lessons Brighton feel this store is essential viewing. They have been a key provider of Brighton's music scene for nearly 30 years, and continue to offer advice, services and repairs and part-exchanges, as well as premium guitar equipment. Stockists of Fender, Peerless, Mooer, Hofner, Washburn, Cort and Vox, amongst many, many others, Badlands Guitars caters for every kind of player, from the complete novice to your favourite band's frontman. Badlands also offers a comprehensive PA system hire service ranging from £35 per night for your straight-forward pub gig to £89 per night; perfect for an outdoor showcase for hundreds of your nearest and dearest (and perhaps a talent spy or two). Microphones are available with all levels of hire as optional extras, so if Singing Lessons Brighton have filled you with enough confidence to rock out a stage at your local, or to surprise a loved one with party entertainment provided by YOU, then Badlands has it covered. You will find the shop at 46 Preston Road, Brighton.

You've probably heard of GAK. Why? Because they are an international online provider of one of the most comprehensive selections of guitar, amps and keyboards (and all the trimmings besides) that you can possibly feast your eyes and ears upon, and Brightonions are lucky enough to have this iconic label call our crazy, beautiful city home. Split into two shops - one for acoustic and the other for electric wares - Guitar, Amp and Keyboard Centre stock the likes of Fender, Gibson, Epiphone, Marshall, Roland, Yamaha and Ibanez, among thousands more for every need, be it DJing, studio recording, live performance or jamming in your basement. They also have a very wide-reaching selection of vocal microphones from AKG, Audio-Technica, Line 6, Samson and Sennheiser to make your opening night extra special. Guitar, Amp and Keyboard Centre is located at the heart of the North Laines, blazing in its unmissable coat of yellow and red paint at 78-81 North Road, Brighton.

Ackerman Music

Ackerman Music was founded by Brian Ackerman in 1994, and since then he and his wife have expanded to four shops in Sussex and a brilliant online store. Brian has also received an ARAM for services to music. They are premier stockists for Yamaha, Bach, Selmer Paris, Jupiter, Yanagisawa, Korg, Stentor and Pearl, in addition to many other of their suppliers, and, thanks to Lynne Ackerman, the store specialises in a cacophony of sheet music for every taste - and over 35,000 on their website. This extraordinary feat has been recognised by the pair being awarded the MIA Printed Music Retailer of the Year in 2008 and 2009. A truly classic gem, we at Singing Lessons Brighton believe every musician should be familiar with the store at 124 Queens Road, Brighton.
